Peacock is Finished!

Peacock is now resting after a couple of hours of intensive pinning and blocking this afternoon. It took me around 2 hours to get this blocked. I'm just waiting for it to dry out overnight before I send it on to it's owner.

I have really enjoyed this project and would do one again, perhaps not for a little while yet... Enjoy!

Snow, Snow, Quick, Quick, Snow!

Woohooo!!

This is the sort of snow we don't get very often. It was 4 inches deep when I woke up at 7am and didn't stop falling until 3 o'clock this afternoon.

This is the view out of my bedroom window this morning

and in the other direction

The view from my front door...

Zippy is responsible for the footprints in the first picture. Bungle prefers to sit and watch through the window!

It is now 6pm and has just started again. The forecast isn't good for tonight and if this lot freezes, tomorrow is definitely going to be a stay-at-home day.

I have finally finished Peacock Feathers and it is waiting to be properly blocked. I took a couple of pictures of it yesterday just roughly pinned out

Poetry for St Brigid's

This came from Wibbo's blog; nice idea. Choose a poem and join in if you like...

WHAT: A Bloggers' (Silent) Poetry Reading
WHEN: Anytime February 2, 2007
WHERE: Your blog
WHY: To celebrate the Feast of Brigid, aka Groundhog Day
HOW: Select a poem you like - by a favorite poet or one of your own - to post February 2nd.
RSVP: If you plan to publish, feel free to leave a comment and link on this post. Last year Reya put out the call and there was more poetry in cyberspace than she could keep track of. So, link to whomever you hear about this from and a mighty web of poetry will be spun.

When I am Old I Will Wear Purple
Jenny Joseph

When I am Old
I will wear Purple!

When I am an old woman,
I shall wear purple - -
With a red hat which doesn't go,
and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves and satin sandles,
And say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
and gobble up samples in shops
and press alarm bells
and run with my stick along public railings,
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit!
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at ago,
or only bread and pickles for a week,
and hoard pens and pencils
and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
and pay our rent
and not swear in the street,
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner
and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised
when suddenly I am old,
And start to wear purple!
